Taxes

Filing taxes might not be fun, but it’s one of those milestones that shows I’m stepping fully into adulthood.

Taxes.

I’m pretty sure nobody actually likes doing taxes. Maybe a few dedicated number people out there do, but for the rest of us, it’s one of those things you just sit down and get done.

As Tax Day rolls around, I’ve found myself taking another step into adulthood by handling it on my own. It’s not exactly exciting, but it is real. It’s one of those responsibilities that quietly shows you where you’re at in life.

Between school, work, and everything else I’ve committed to, adding taxes into the mix felt like just one more thing to organize. But honestly, that’s kind of the point. Staying on top of responsibilities, even the less fun ones, is part of building a life that runs smoothly.

There’s something satisfying about figuring it out, getting everything in order, and knowing it’s handled. It’s not about loving the process, it’s about being capable of doing it anyway.

It’s a different kind of progress. Not the kind you always see or celebrate, but the kind that matters.

If you’re just starting to do your own taxes, my biggest advice is to not overcomplicate it. Start early, keep your documents in one place, and take it step by step. It’s easy to make it feel bigger than it is, but once you sit down and work through it, it becomes manageable.

Taxes might not be fun, but they’re definitely a sign that I’m stepping into this next phase and handling it.
