Staying Connected

Reflections on staying connected across distance and choosing communication, repair, and care in the early weeks of marriage.

This week reminded me that connection is something you maintain, not something you assume. Being married does not remove the need for communication. It deepens it and asks more honesty from you than before.

There were moments of adjustment, small misunderstandings, and quiet recalibrations. Nothing alarming. Just real life finding its rhythm. What mattered most was how quickly we came back to clarity and care, and how willing we both were to listen instead of defend.

Being away from each other makes those choices more intentional. I am learning that love is not weakened by distance when it is supported by honesty, effort, and a shared commitment to return to each other.

That feels like a skill worth practicing early.
